The 19-year-old became the first player to both score and assist on his Premier League debut.
He set up Kevin De Bruyne for City’s opener after just 17 minutes, before tapping home from close range after an unselfish pass from Raheem Sterling five minutes before half time.
It’s been a wonderful start to life in the City side for the Brazilian – and he says he’s happy to be off the mark.
“I’m used to scoring many goals but I also like to assist and to help the team in other ways and I’m happy for it,” he said.
“If I’m in the starting line-up it’s great and if not I’m going to try to help the team any way I can.
“I came here to help, the adaptation process is going great, my teammates are really helping me very much, the club is really helping me so I can stay focused on football which I really like and it’s great.”
De Bruyne, who delivered a complete performance in a central role behind Jesus, says he is excited by City’s youthful frontline.
Jesus was ably assisted by 21-year-old Leroy Sane at the London Stadium, with the pair bringing pace, vibrancy and technical quality to City’s frontline.
With Sane looking better with each game and Jesus adapting to English football quickly, De Bruyne feels City fans should be excited.
“They [Jesus and Sane] are very sharp,” he said.
“I just thought at half time that these guys are so quick and it’s even almost impossible for us to follow them in midfield but obviously they bring great energy, they’re very young so they have a bright future and luckily they are with us.
“I think we did really well.
“We knew after the cup game it was going to be very important to start aggressively and I think we did really good, scored some nice goals and obviously when you’re leading 3-0 at half time it’s very important to be concentrated in the beginning.
“After the 4-0 it’s a little bit less but I think it was an overall very good performance.
“Everything was good, we were well organised and our play was very nice so obviously everything came together today and we have to work the same way we did today and I think we’ll be very dangerous.”
