City weren’t at their best at the John Smith’s Stadium but Guardiola says it was a good display given the circumstances.
Huddersfield, in fine form in the Championship, hosted a rugby match earlier this week, leaving the pitch in far from pristine condition.
That hindered City’s passing style and Guardiola says he’s pleased to be in the hat for the sixth-round draw.
“No it wasn’t frustrating, I think that adjective is so tough,” he said afterwards. “It was a cup game against one of the best teams in the Championship and we know how difficult it is to play teams in the Championship away, in this stadium where a rugby game was played two days ago.
“They are a really, really good team but we made a good performance, especially in the first half when we created many chances to score a goal.
“Congratulations to Huddersfield, of course. In two weeks we will see them again at the Etihad Stadium.
“When you play against teams in the Championship who are at the top of the league, it’s always difficult.
“They had good spirit but the players did absolutely everything and when that happens I have no complaints.
“We are going to play a replay, that is the rules. In other countries they play two games and have extra time and penalties but here we are going to play a replay.
“After the game next Tuesday against Monaco we have one week and when we come back from Abu Dhabi we are going to play that game.”
Meanwhile, Guardiola says the injury to Vincent Kompany that saw the Belgian defender miss the game at the John Smith’s Stadium is not serious.
“I think it was not a big issue but he was not able to play today,” he said.
