Manchester City defender Aleksandar Kolarov believes Pep Guardiola is the best manager in world football.

And the Serbian believes City are set to get better and better under his guidance.

The Blues slipped to fifth in the Premier League table after their 4-0 defeat away at Everton on Sunday, leading to a wave of criticism across the media.

But Koalrov isn’t worried - and he believes the longer Guardiola has to stamp his mark on the squad, the better City will become.

“For all the players it is a great pleasure to play under him because he’s the best coach in the football at the moment,” he said.

“As players we can improve and we need to win more games but we are just at the beginning of a journey and I think we’ll get better and better.”

Despite some poor results in recent months, Kolarov believes there have been positives to take from the performances.

City have controlled possession in the majority of their matches this season, with Guardiola admitting after the defeat at Goodison Park on Sunday that an improvement in both boxes would have helped them turn their domination into more points.

It’s a feeling shared by Koalrov, who isn’t ruling out a title charge in what looks like being one of the tightest races in Premier League history.

“We know that the game is always in our hands so we just need to turn more games into wins because we’ve dominated some matches but not ended up winning,” he said.

“Every game is tough in the Premier League whether they are at the top or the bottom.

“Guardiola wants us to be 100% professional in everything we do – if we want to win things, every small detail is important.

“I still think the title race will go to the very last day and we have to make sure we’re involved.”
