City will have to work hard for three points against Burnley warns Bacary Sagna.

The France international believes the Clarets are a side typical to English football with their work ethic, attitude and fitness making them difficult to beat.

“Burnley have always been a difficult team to play against,” said Sagna.

“They give 100% in every single game they play. They know where they come from and that they have quality players, many of whom I believe are underrated.

“Most of them have played for different big clubs and academies. They totally deserve to be part of the Premier League and are proving a lot of people wrong.

“Last year they did really well in the Championship by keeping most of their players. I was watching their games and they were playing good football.

When we played them away at their stadium it was quite a difficult game so we know what to expect when we play them, but we think about the way we’re going to play and, of course, we’re going to be in front of our fans.

“We want to be successful so we have to win against them, particularly after losing against Liverpool on New Year’s Eve which we are all disappointed about. They will never give up – no-one does at this stage of the season - and every single player is professional and committed and we have to be better than them.

“There is no such thing as an easy three points in this league. The best example is Middlesbrough. We played well all through the game, created three or four clear chances and then in the last minute they scored.

“At the end of the day instead of three points we only get one so it was a very disappointing result, but we learned from it and so we’ll be looking to an early advantage and then kill the game if we have to.”
