1 What’s in a name?

His full name is Danilo Luiz da Silva and he was born in Bicas, a small town in the in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil on 15 July 1991

2 Growing up in the game

He spent the first six years of his football career with América Futebol Clube – joining at the age of 12 and working his way through the Club’s youth system and helping them win promotion from the third tier in 2009

3 Brazil debut

He made his senior debut for Brazil against Argentina in 2010 aged 20 and has won 15 caps to date

4 Santos switch

In 2010, he joined Brazilian giants Santos and played briefly alongside former City favourites Robinho and Elano during the 2010/11 campaign

5 Versatile

He joined FC Porto in January 2012 for around £10m and quickly forged a thrilling wing-back partnership with Alex Sandro

6 For Real

In July 2015, he joined Real Madrid for €31.5m, penning a six-year deal and providing competition for Dani Carvajal

7 Olympian

He is an Olympic silver medallist after Brazil finished runners-up to Mexico at the 2012 London Olympic Games

8 Titles

He has won the league title in Brazil, Portugal and Spain along with two Champions League winner’s medals

9 Goal threat

Danilo can take penalties and has an impressive 25 goals in 257 career games at club level

10 Two-footed

A typical Brazilian full-back, he is quick and attack-minded and can strike a ball with either foot, scoring several spectacular goals at club level
