He was born in Longjumeau, France on 17 July 1994.

He made his professional debut for Le Harve, just a few weeks after his 17th birthday.

Mendy had made just 64 senior starts when he was signed by Marseille, just a few days shy of his 19th birthday.

He was a regular starter at international youth level, representing France Under-16s, 17s, 18s, 19s, and 21s ā€“ making a total of 58 appearances over a seven-year period. 

Full international 

Mendy made his senior international debut against Luxembourg in March 2017 and has won four caps to date.

Mendy was a team-mate of former City Academy graduate Karim Rekik during his time with Marseille.

Mendy joined Marseilleā€™s rivals Monaco in 2016, having made 101 appearances in three years with the Ligue 1 club.
