The Blues will have the honour of being part of the Seagulls’ first ever Premier League match on 12 August – though all the games are subject to TV scheduling which could include a day and time change.
The teams haven’t met in the league since April 1 1989 when Brighton beat City 2-1, though there was a September 2008 League Cup clash at the Withdean Stadium with the Seagulls triumphing 5-3 on penalties following a 2-2 draw.
City’s first home game will be a week later at the Etihad when Ronald Koeman’s Everton are the visitors.
The first Manchester derby is at Old Trafford on 9 December with the return at the Etihad on 7 April.
Other notable dates on the calendar are the Boxing Day fixture away to Newcastle United, the New Year’s Day clash with Watford at the Etihad Stadium and the final game of the season which is away to Southampton.
