Ivorian midfielder Toure, who joined the Club in 2010, has agreed an extension to his contract, keeping him at the Etihad Stadium for another year.
Over seven seasons, the 34-year-old has played a key role in the Blues’ trophy successes, producing scintillating performances and scoring crucial goals.
England star Sterling has built a close friendship with Toure and is delighted his teammate has extended his stay.
“Uncle Yaya!” he laughed. “What can I say about him?
“He’s done it at the highest level and he’s done it over many years for City.
“It’s a pleasure to share the pitch with him.”
Toure himself has spoken highly of his England counterpart in the past, asserting he and Leroy Sane have the potential to become world-class wingers.
Sterling, who enjoyed an impressive 2016/17 campaign – just one goal away from his all-time best tally, is equally admiring of Toure.
The winger added he is learning a lot from the Ivorian.
“Some of the stuff he does is incredible,” he continued.
“You can always learn from him.
“The way he controls the game is brilliant and he is so composed on the ball.
“He can play wherever and whenever he wants. He’s a machine.”
