Sergio Aguero produced his best ever goals return for Man City last season with 33 strikes in all competitions - here we dig a little deeper into the Argentinian's performance.

Aguero‘s highest-scoring season correlated to his best appearance number for City, with the explosive forward turning out 45 times for Pep Guardiola’s team.

That fitness was to prove vital to City during Gabriel Jesus‘ Spring absence with a broken bone in his foot, with 15 of Sergio’s goals coming in the last 17 games in all competitions.

The 29-year-old averaged 78 minutes per game and returned the stunning statistic of .73 goals per match.

Aguero flew into the season with six goals in his first three games, including a hat-trick at Steaua Bucharest, and maintained his form impressively. His two goals against Huddersfield made him the Club’s leading post-war FA Cup goalscorer and he ended the season second on City’s all-time scorers list, tantalisingly close to Eric Brook’s long-standing mark of 177.
