Making his first start on 1 February, the Premier League Player of the Month nomination.
There was intrigue across the country upon his arrival in Manchester this January and a 10 minute cameo against Tottenham two days after his transfer was confirmed suggested it wouldn’t take long for Jesus to reveal his talent.
And when his City career began in earnest - on his full debut against West Ham – he did just that.
The match was only 17 minutes old when the 19-year-old made his first telling impact, to prove there is much more to his game than goal scoring alone.
Peeling away from the Hammers’ Winston Reid, he returned Kevin De Bruyne’s pass to tee the Belgian up for the opening goal.
There was better to come, though. As a home side break was thwarted, the attacking trident of Jesus, Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling countered at pace and combined for our No.33’s first Premier League goal.
A much deserved man of the match award suffixed that performance, as did the excitement amongst City fans.
How did he follow that up? With another star showing on his first start at the Etihad Stadium.
If Spurs was the announcement and West Ham the warm-up act, then Swansea was without doubt the main event.
There was a youthful display of agility when he showcased his predatory instincts to open the scoring with a volley from close range, as the Etihad delighted at another South American goal scorer.
He was the highlight of a convincing first half performance, but the tide turned after the break and City looked to have squandered the three points when Gylfi Sigurdsson equalised with nine minutes to go.
It was all City in the closing stages and the young man from Jardim Peri, Sao Paulo, showcased the uncanny talent the game’s greats have to produce the goods when it really matters.
We were already in added time when David Silva delivered the cross and what followed was textbook centre forward play.
First Jesus lost his man, which was followed by a downward header. Lukasz Fabianski kept it out, but the Brazilian international did what all good goal scorers do and followed up to tap home the rebound.
A metatarsal injury suffered at Bournemouth curtailed what was an incredibly promising start in the sky blue shirt, but the Premier League Player of the Month nomination is testament to the quality of those two performances.
Given the goal scoring exploits of fellow nominees Harry Kane and Romelu Lukaku last month, that Jesus sits alongside them after only two full games speaks volumes as to how quickly he adapted to English football.
And City fans will no doubt be hoping he can pick up where he left off when he completes his injury comeback.
