He was born on 10 August 1994 in Lisbon, Portugal

He began his career with Benfica at youth level, aged eight, before progressing through the ranks to the senior squad

He made his debut for Benfica during their treble-winning 2013/14 season

Making most of his appearances for the B squad however, he was named the Segunda Liga Breakthrough Player of the Year in 2013/14, having claimed the October, December and January Player of the Month awards

He was a key part of Portugal’s Under-21 side that finished the 2015 European Championship as runners-up and was named in the Team of the Tournament, as he was at the U19s tournament in 2013

In August 2014, he joined Monaco on a one-year loan spell and signed a permanent deal with the Club in January 2015

8 Monaco magic

He made 132 appearances for Monaco, helping the Club to a Ligue 1 title in 2016/17. He also made the Ligue 1 Team of the Year

He played against City in the 2016/17 Champions League quarter-finals, as Monaco progressed on away goals following a 6-6 draw on aggregate
