Guardiola took charge at the Etihad last summer after his contract at Bayern Munich came to an end and although City will end the season trophyless, Silva feels there have been significant enhancements that stand them in good stead ahead of the new campaign.
The Spaniard says Guardiola is in the process of altering the mentality of the players - as well as the style the team plays - and believes next season will see City challenge for multiple trophies.
“For me, it’s been a good season, but when you don’t win trophies, you feel a little bit disappointed,” he said.
“We are here to win trophies. It’s Pep Guardiola’s first season, he is changing some ideas of football and the way of play, it suits us well.
“We are doing something for the near future and I think we are achieving it little by little.
“We had good games at home against top teams: Tottenham, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool.
“Those games we played really well but we didn’t get all we deserved. Next season, we can’t let those games go.
“Next season we need to fight for everything, for all the trophies.
“This season, it’s been our first contact, the change of an idea.
“The team understands the ideas clearer now and next season we will go all out.
“We need to win. We have clear ideas now and I’m sure there will be other players coming that will help us to achieve our goals.”
Guardiola has achieved major success throughout his career, winning 21 trophies in his seven seasons as a manager prior to taking the City job.
Silva says the Catalan boss is “special” and believes his ability to understand the intricacies of the game mark him out as one of the greats.
“What makes him so special is the fact that he gives you all the keys to win the next game,” Silva said.
“He gives you a lot of key points. He foresees things that are going to happen and then they happen during the match.
“He’s the best at reading the game.”
Silva, who has been outstanding for much of the campaign, bagged his 50th goal for the Club during last weekend’s impressive 5-0 win over Crystal Palace.
That performance led to a wave of acclaim, not least from teammate Pablo Zabaleta, who described Silva as the best he’s ever played alongside.
And Silva says he couldn’t be happier to receive that kind of praise from a player like Zaba.
“For me it is something incredible that a player like Pablo, who’s been playing with me for seven years and with all his experience, says that,” he said.
“It makes me feel proud.
“A person like him, who’s with me day in, day out, I only have words of gratitude towards him.”
