It was a privilege to be present at the Etihad to witness City finally overcome Barcelona on the Champions League stage.
Andreas Iniesta may have been missing but otherwise a star-studded Barca – including Messi, Neymar and Suarez – came at City full tilt in an opening 20 minute assault.
And when Messi gave the Catalan giants the lead, both City’s players and fans could have been forgiven for fearing the worst. Instead, the Blues staged a storming comeback - inspired by virtuoso displays by Kevin De Bruyne and Ilkay Gundogan and a passionate capacity Etihad crowd - to set the seal on one of the club’s great European nights.
It was also provided a tantalising window onto what City fans can expect going forward under the guidance of Pep Guardiola – mixing with and overcoming the very best of European opposition.

For years, the best game of football I had seen live was City’s 5-2 win over Tottenham at Maine Road in October 1994. The quality of the football that day was remarkable. Tottenham, loaded with international-calibre forwards, played City off the park for 15 minutes - but Paul Walsh inspired a free-flowing performance that overwhelmed Klinsmann, Dumitrescu et al and City won the game with something to spare.
However, this season conjured a 90 minutes that perhaps surpasses what I saw that day. The 5-3 win over Monaco in the Champions was a thriller. Two sides committed to attacking football, hellbent on outscoring the opposition.
Eight goals, penalties - it had everything.

One of football’s greatest features is its ability to throw up surprises.
No matter how long you’ve watched the beautiful game, it is still able to delight, shock and amaze.
City’s Champions League triumph over Monaco at the Etihad Stadium provided 93 minutes of thrilling, end-to-end action which you could not take your eyes off.
The Blues twice came from behind to claim victory, as the pendulum swung violently from one side to the other.
In the end, it wouldn’t be enough for City to progress but – one of the most entertaining and unpredictable clashes in recent years – it will live long in the memory.

Maybe because it’s so fresh in the memory, or perhaps because my colleagues will probably go for the Barcelona or Monaco home wins – but I enjoyed the win over Watford as much as any game this season.
It was a lovely sunny day; the Blues were in the mood and it was all played at a traditional English football ground in front of a respectful crowd.
The football was pretty good, too.
The movement of the team, the passing and the style the Blues played was fantastic to watch and it wasn’t a bad way to claim our twelfth Premier League away win this season.
It was the performance of Sergio Aguero, however, that sticks in the mind. Skilful, technically brilliant with terrific vision and finishing, Kun has finished the campaign in the form of his life and next season, he is likely to kick on again.
Eric Brook’s long reign at the top of the MCFC goal scorer’s list could be over just a few weeks into the 2017/18 season.
