Speaking ahead of Sunday’s Premier League trip to Huddersfield Town, Guardiola said the duo had made a key contribution so far this term.
Brazilian goalkeeper Ederson, who moved to City in the summer from Benfica, has adapted to life in the Premier League in superb fashion.
A strong, physical presence in goal, an excellent distributor and boasting a huge kick to boot, the 23-year-old has proved a vital addition to City’s defence.
And Pep said he was delighted at how Ederson had hit the ground running at the Club given the issues that can affect a player when when he moves to a new club and a new country.
“Not just (adapting) to England. When you buy a player, first moments - how are you going to react? Family... house… kids in school...,” said the City manager.
“He has settled quite good. He is calm. Always the same behaviour.”
Pep was equally complimentary about Sterling’s impressive contribution over the first three months of the campaign.
The England winger is arguably in the best form of his career and currently tops City’s scoring charts this season, having scored 11 goals to date.
His latest strike came in Tuesday’s 1-0 Champions League win over Feyenoord which saw him overtake both Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus in the scoring charts this term.
“It is good. Sergio and Gabriel have not played all the games. It is good for the players to know they have won the games by scoring a goal,” Pep added.
“We have a lot of players scoring goals. We cannot win the title just scoring from one player. Our attacking midfielders, especially and our defenders have been scoring goals. That is good.
“Now is the best moment in his (Raheem’s) career. We are in November. We don’t think too much about the mentality to keep scoring goals. He has to focus, play good. Better and better. The goals are coming. In the second half, we will celebrate the goals.
“I believe all the players can improve in all aspects. We cannot forget - I said many times - to score goals is the most difficult part of the game. We can work on that and improve in the future.”
City will travel to Huddersfield on the back of a stunning run of form. Guardiola’s side have created a host of Club records after winning 17 successive games in all competitions.
However, despite establishing an eight-point lead at the top of the Premier League table, Pep said he was expecting a tough examination at the hands of David Wagner’s side, who have made an excellent start to life in the top flight after being promoted from the Championship last term..
“All of the teams want to win their games. Huddersfield is complicated. We have experience of that. We know exactly what is going to happen – a big atmosphere with fans who support them a lot,” the boss warned.
“People said Brighton away would be easy and you saw what happened. It was a difficult game.”
