Benjamin Mendy will head back to Manchester this weekend as his recovery from knee surgery moves to its next phase.

In an exclusive Instagram Stories interview on our official channel, Mendy revealed the good news to CityTV presenter Kelly O’Donnell that he will travel from Barcelona where he has been recuperating for the past six weeks, back to the Club.

“I return to the CFA this Saturday afternoon to begin work with our medical team and I can’t wait to get back to Manchester,” said Mendy.

“My knee is feeling better and I can’t wait to return. I miss the guys and I speak with them constantly but I will see them this weekend.

“They have been playing some great stuff and it’s great everyone is calling us the shark team.”

Mendy added he will be watching the game against Napoli and is looking for to the Arsenal match on Sunday.

“This will be a tough game and we need to win to continue our winning run.

“Every game is important so we need to win this match, first but Sunday’s game is huge ahead of the international break.”

The France international has become a huge favourite among the City fans and he says he will visit them soon in the shape of a cheerleader!

“I miss our fans and I thank them for all their support over these past few weeks. When I get back I will go to the back of the stands with a megaphone!”
