Sergio Aguero could not hide his delight, having become City's all-time record goalscorer.

The Argentine ace netted his 178th strike for the Club in the sensational 4-2 triumph at Napoli, to write his name into City folklore (again!)

Aguero bagged the third of the night in a thrilling encounter, which saw both sides lead before the Blues clinched a two-goal cushion late on.

The striker dedicated his historic strike to those around him and revealed the recipient of his momentous shirt.

“I am very happy for this moment,” he declared. “I am happy because the team helped support me with the City fans and the staff.

“Thank you very much for everyone. Now, I am enjoying this moment.

“I am very happy. This moment is once in a lifetime.

“This [shirt] is for my son. He text me to say: if I score, to bring the shirt to him!

“I am happy for my family in Argentina and my friends. Hi everyone!”

The victory in Naples secured City’s qualification to the knock-out rounds of the Champions League.

While many believe the manner of the triumph issued a statement of intent to the rest of Europe, Aguero played down such talk, insisting his side must remain grounded.

“Napoli is a good team,” he reflected. “Playing away in the Champions League is difficult.

“I am very happy to win and qualify to the finals.

“We must keep going in the same way, every game, playing the same way.

“[Tonight] it shows nothing. It is a long season.

“Now, we are good. We must continue the same way.”

Congratulations, Sergio!
