In what was his third appearance of the season, the Chilean ‘keeper turned in a stellar performance as Manchester City guaranteed a place in the Carabao Cup quarter-final with a penalty shoot-out victory.
He came out on top in three one on ones during normal time, which was the precursor for his shoot-out heroics and while it was he who caught the eye, Bravo was just happy to help his team.
“It was a special night,” he reflected. “If you work hard, if you keep focused, nights like this will happen.
“The team needed a great performance by me and that is how it went.
“I always try to help the team as much as I can. It was an amazing night for us, for what I did and for what happened.”
Match-winning shoot-out displays have been a feature of the 34-year-old’s career since his earliest days at Colo Colo in his native Chile, while he also saved from the spot in the 2015 and 2016 Copa America finals as La Roja won back to back titles.
But he hopes the lottery of spot kicks won’t be required again.
“I always try to feel strong,” he explained. “Make the opponent feel nervous and pass the pressure to him.
“I hope we won’t have to suffer like that during the rest of the competition.”

Meanwhile, City’s No.1 also opened up about his relationship with fellow ‘keeper Ederson and his role as one of the squad’s elder statesmen.
“Ederson is doing very well,” added Bravo.
“He’s young and sometimes he needs some advice and that’s part of my job - with him and the rest of the young ‘keepers.
“It would be selfish if I did not try to help them.
“At my age, it is my responsibility to give them advice, to help them to grow up as players.”
