Angus Gunn’s fourth clean sheet in eight games saw Norwich City extend their unbeaten run to three games with victory over Sheffield United.

The Canaries won 1-0 at Bramhall Lane as Daniel Farke’s men climbed to 12th in the Championship, with Gunn making an important stop to deny David Brooks with the scores level at 0-0.

A few miles away in Suffolk, Bersant Celina had an equally positive impact on Ipswich Town’s fortunes.

With the Tractor Boys tied with Bolton at the break, the young midfielder was introduced at half-time and looked threatening throughout as Town secured a 2-0 win to move up to fifth.

Our League One contingent had less to celebrate, with both Kean Bryan and Rodney Kongolo suffering defeats with Oldham and Doncaster Rovers respectively.

Kongolo made his second start of the season at the heart of Donny’s midfield,but was on the wrong end of a 1-0 home defeat at the hands of Scunthorpe – their first loss at the Keepmoat Stadium this season. 

Bryan was left similarly frustrated as he played 85 minutes in the Latics’ midfield. He enjoyed a goal-scoring performance two weeks ago against Fleetwood, but saw his side eclipsed 2-1 by leaders Shrewsbury on Saturday.

In England’s top league, Joe Hart will be pleased to have registered a second consecutive clean sheet for West Ham, who drew 0-0 with West Brom at The Hawthorns.

The England man had a quiet afternoon, with the opposition registering only one shot on target.

To Europe now, and Aleix Garcia came off the bench to make his competitive debut for Girona. The midfielder replaced Christian Stuani after 67 minutes, but was on the losing side against Sevilla.

One goal was enough to see the Red and Whites lose at home for the first time this season, with Pablo Maffeo, and Douglas Luiz named as unused substitutes.

In Holland, no fewer than five on-loan Blues played the full 90 minutes as NAC Breda got off the mark in the Eredivisie.

Angelino and Pablo Mari both started in the Dutch side’s defence, while at the other end of the pitch, Manu Garcia and Thomas Agyepong played behind striker Thierry Ambrose as Breda won 2-1 against Gronigen.

Isaac Buckley-Ricketts’ FC Twente had reason to celebrate at the weekend, as they notched a convincing 4-0 victory over Utretch, though the City youngster remained on the bench for the first time in two games.

North of the boarder, Brandon Barker made his third successive start for Hibernian, who were in action Scottish Championship action against Motherwell.

The Hibees were held to a 2-2 draw at Easter Road, though the winger nearly secured all three points with after a surging run and shot in the second half.

To the other club in Edinburgh, where Ashley Smith-Brown made his Scottish Premiership debut in Hearts’ 2-1 win at Hamilton.

The 21-year-old played on the left of the Jambos’ back four after an injury interrupted start to his loan spell.

Elsewhere in Scotland’s top league, Patrick Roberts was an unused substitute as Celtic beat Ross County 4-0 to extend their unbeaten run to 55 league games.

Finally, in Turkey, Jason Denayer made his second appearance of his second spell at Galatasary. The defender came on for the final two minutes in the 2-0 victory over Kasımpaşa.
