Pep Guardiola’s delve into yesteryear and a record-breaking one-time Blue feature in this week’s Things We Love.

There’s also a City-themed tasty treat and a fine goal from Manchester City Women, all of which have caught our eye on the world wide web during the last seven days.

So, without further ado, here are the four things we love this week…

Pep the ball boy

The Manchester City boss was paid a visit by BBC’s Gary Lineker this week, who spoke to him for the Premier League show.

In an in-depth interview, the Match of the Day presenter got a fascinating insight into the Catalan’s managerial approach, which is glowingly recounted in his article for the BBC website – well worth a moment of your time.

Perhaps the best anecdote, though, was when Guardiola recalled his childhood and his time spent as a ball boy for a Barcelona side containing a certain Mr Lineker…

Record-breaking Barry

When Gareth Barry lined up for West Brom against Arsenal on the evening of Monday 25 September, history was made.

It was appearance number 633 for the Englishman – a Premier League record.

Barry, of course, made his own bit of history in the sky blue shirt, helping the Club to our first Premier League title, which he remembered fondly in this chat with Sky Sports.

Recalling that fateful day, he said: “To be involved in that Premier League history, they’ll be talking about that for years to come.

“It was nerve-wracking but something I was proud to be involved in.”

Scottish power

Manchester City Women started the new FA WSL campaign in fine fashion, with a 4-0 win over Yeovil.

There was plenty to celebrate, but the second goal was particularly memorable and inspired by two of the Blues’ Scottish contingent.

A combination of Claire Emslie’s industry and trickery set the goal up, while Jane Ross applied the subtlest of finishes.

Good enough to eat

Birthday cake is always good, but a City birthday cake is even better and we love this Blues inspired design.
