Aguero poised for greatness
Eric Brook’s proud record of 177 goals has stood for more than 78 years but Sergio Aguero’s treble against Watford has taken him to 175, just two short of equalling the Club’s highest scorer and three of becoming the holder himself.
His tenth hat-trick in City colours included a towering header, a poacher’s tap-in and an individual gem cementing his place as one of the Premier League’s greatest strikers of all time.
No doubt there are many more records he will break in the coming weeks and months.

Solid defence
Last season the Blues conceded too many goals and it eventually ended any hopes of challenging Chelsea for the title.
Vincent Kompany’s absence was often suggested as the main reason for too many shipped goals, but this term has started differently with the Blues looking solid with and without the skipper.
Four clean sheets from six and just two goals conceded overall suggests there is a new solidity to the defence as a unit, with Kyle Walker and Benjamin Mendy bringing additional pace and power and the rear-guard already looking formidable.
Ilkay’s return
It’s been nine long months since against Watford in December.
Fitting, then, that the German midfielder should make his comeback against the Hornets as he played the last 20 minutes or so of the game at Vicarage Road.

The assist kings
David Silva provided the crosses for two more goals while Kevin De Bruyne also chipped in with another superb cross for Aguero to score from.
With the Blues’ two artists-in-chiefs in such blistering form, there is the reason to believe both players are set for the best season yet in sky blue.
Quite an accolade if it comes to fruition, given what’s gone before…
Keep calm and carry on
It would be easy to get carried away with the start City have made – and why not?
15 goals in three games, Aguero and Gabriel Jesus in red-hot form, defence looking solid, Ederson proving a real find and the creative department on full throttle.
But Pep’s assertion that the Blues started last season in similar fashion is spot-on – with 10 wins on the bounce correctly placing City as the team to beat.
But there’s a long, long way to go and a lot of hard work ahead. So the message is enjoy the moment, but maybe on a game-by-game basis.
