That’s the view of goalkeeper Ederson, who feels Raheem Sterling’s 96th-minute strike that sunk the Saints was the launchpad to success.
City’s title win was confirmed on Sunday after second-placed Manchester United lost at home to bottom club West Brom, leaving our cross-town rivals 16 points behind us with only five games left to play.
And 24-year-old Ederson, signed from Benfica in the summer, says the emotion the squad felt after the win over Southampton was pivotal.
“The most emotional match of the season for me was against Southampton at home, when Sterling scored in the last minute,” he said.
“It was crazy, we were pressing a lot, we had lots of opportunities, but the ball wasn’t going in.
“But with the last chance, Sterling fired a great goal - the winning goal, a beautiful one - and the euphoria was high.
“Of course, there were other amazing wins, a lot of difficult games, but that was the one that I remember as the toughest one.”

Last week, Ederson was nominated for the PFA Young Player of the Year award having kept 15 clean sheets in the Premier League already this term.
His ability to distribute the ball - both long and short - and his unerring calmness in possession have also seen him lauded.
It’s rare to see a goalkeeper make such a significant impact but Ederson has truly changed the dynamic of Pep Guardiola‘s City side.

“I am a very humble and simple guy, on and off the pitch,” he said.
“I am very outgoing and my close friends know that. I play and make a lot of jokes with them.
“For those that don’t know me, they might think that I am very reserved, but that’s my way of being. I am a very calm guy, relaxed. I am currently very happy doing what I enjoy the most, which is playing football.”
