Pep Guardiola has confirmed Aguero will be out for up to five weeks, ruling him out of our final five matches of the season.
The Argentine is currently in Barcelona where his rehabilitation process has begun, and the target now is to preapre the 30-goal striker for this summer’s World Cup in Russia.
Asked if Aguero’s season was over, Guardiola said: “Here, yeah. It’s four or five weeks. We will try and get him ready for the World Cup.
“He’s in Barcelona now. The first part of his rehabilitation
is there.”
Meanwhile, Guardiola says he wants to use the chance to set new Premier League records as motivation for his players over the final weeks of the season.
City were confirmed as champions last Sunday when Manchester United lost home to West Brom with five matches to spare.
It’s a familiar position for Guardiola, who won leagues early during his spells as manager of both Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

The Catalan admitted that on those occasions he has struggled to keep player focused - but with City still on course to break points, goals and winning margin records, he believes it could provide the incentive he needs to keep his squad at their optimum until the end of the season.
“In the past when I won the league five, six, seven games before the end, the next few games were not good and we were not able to keep going,” he said.
“But a good argument to keep going is the records. The important thing is to win the title but maybe the records can help us be focused against the teams fighting to avoid relegation.
“That’s why it would be nice to finish good. It would be uncomfortable to finish in a bad way.
“There are still games to play, and we have to respect the five opponents. But athletes need a target.”
