Sunday’s 5-0 win over Swansea means we are now even closer to breaking records for most points, most wins, most goals and biggest title-winning margin in a single season.
And the Brazilian, a key figure in our magnificent campaign, says City are more than capable of achieving them and securing a place in the pantheon of the Premier League’s greatest sides.
“It would mean a lot,” said. Ederson.
“If you finish the season as a champion and on top of that, breaking some records, we would make history as a club and also as football players.
“I hope we can break all the records - we are able to do it.
“If we manage to keep the same level we have had along the season, we’ll do it
“In all the games along the season, our team show our quality over the whole season, we played good football.
“Everything we do in training during the week, then we put into practice during the games.
“That is the most important thing, we have been playing good football. What we did against Swansea, we have done it in other games.
“So, we need to keep the same level in the last four games of the season and try to win all of them”
Ederson arrived at City in the summer, signing from Benfica after playing just 56 times for the Portuguese side.
His performances have been sensational. He’s kept 16 clean sheets in the Premier League alone and his ability to distribute the ball – both long and short – has revolutionised City’s play.
He was nominated for the PFA Young Player of the Year award and is widely viewed as being one of the signings of the season.
The 24-year-old says he has steadily improved since moving to the Etihad but believes there’s plenty more to come.
“Without a doubt [I improved this season],” he said.
“It’s normal. In a championship so competitive like the Premier League, you must always look to progress and improve.
“With me, it wasn’t different. I arrived here and started playing straight away, and I think I have been improving and growing along the season.
“There are still things I need to improve, but little by little.
“I think my performances this season was very positive and I hope I can keep this level in the future”
So, how does it feel to be a Premier League champion aged just 24?
“Very happy. Goal achieved. It was a goal I set when I arrived at the club.
“I feel very rewarded for what we have achieved.”
