The Argentine star bagged a hat-trick – his ninth in the Premier League – to continue his impressive scoring start to the 2018/19 campaign.
Aguero opened the scoring at the Etihad Stadium with a sensational chip, having collected Ederson’s outrageous goal kick assist, before converting from close range after goalkeeper Ben Hamer had spilled Benjamin Mendy’s cross.
The forward completed his treble in the second half, with Mendy once again the provider, as Aguero flicked the Frenchman’s delivery into the far post.
Guardiola naturally was full of praise for his prolific striker, who claimed his 200th City goal in the Community Shield victory over Chelsea, revealing that Kun now feels ‘free’ following surgery over the summer.
“Three goals a game is okay!” he laughed, when asked whether Aguero could in fact become more clinical.
“We are not going to demand that. Since he came back and I saw him from the first minute, I said: ‘Wow!’

“He came back perfect. After surgery with the doctor, he feels free now. He suffered last year with some problems but his whole game – not just scoring goals but his passing and his assists… he never stops!
“When that happens, he is one of the best strikers in the world, without a doubt.
“Since he came back, in this period – in the Community Shield, against Arsenal and today, he has been perfect.”
Guardiola also reserved praise for David Silva, who marked his 250th Premier League appearance with a wonderful goal – a free-kick, bent into the top corner.
The Spaniard’s friends and family were in attendance to witness El Mago’s first appearance of the season, and Guardiola declared it will be a personal moment he will never forget.
“He made an outstanding performance,” he reflected. “It was his first game after the summertime.
“He was so motivated. His family – his parents, his wife and his son – were here and he scored an amazing goal for him (Mateo).
“His son will never forget the first time he saw his father plat football; he scored an outstanding goal.
“We met him (Mateo) two days ago in the locker room. It was a big moment for us.
“Last season was a tough moment for his family but fortunately, the little boy fought a lot.
“He’s here and it is a special day for us and for David.”
City’s first home game of the season also saw Mendy claim another three assists (if you count the cross Hamer spilled into Aguero‘s path...)
Guardiola spoke highly of his left-back’s offensive qualities, praising the defender’s start to the new campaign.
“We know his physicality,” he added. “Now, we have one game a week, we have time for recovery. I don’t know what will happen when we play every three days!
“He’s a guy who is full of energy, offensively and defensively and with the ball.
“All of the guys who played all three games, they have all done very well.”
