Hart was a veritable colossus in the City goal and played a vital role in keeping United at bay as Sven-Goran Eriksson’s side stunned Old Trafford with a wonderful victory thanks to goals from Darius Vassell and Benjani.
It helped cement a league double over Manchester United for the first time since 1969/70 and offered an early glimpse into the crucial role Hart would play over subsequent seasons for the Club..

Having spent an impressive season on loan at Birmingham, Roberto Mancini brought Hart back to the Etihad Stadioum for the start of the 2010/11 season to compete with Shay Given for a place in the side.
The Republic of Ireland international had a proven reputation as being one of the best goalkeepers in Premier League history. But Mancini decided to install Hart as his No. 1 for the opening game of the season away at Tottenham.
Hart more than repaid his manager’s faith, producing a stunning man-of-the-match display.
Tottenham had 18 shots on target as wave after wave of Spurs attacks rained down on City’s goal. However, Hart stopped everything that was thrown at him and helped City leave the capital with a clean sheet.

City 1-1 Borussia Dortmund – Oct 3, 2012
This Champions League clash at the Etihad arguably served as Hart’s most memorable display for the Club.
On the night Borussia Dortmund more than had the measure of City – but the Blues managed to maintain a proud record of 17 European home games without defeat thanks to Hart’s heroics.
He brilliantly pushed Mario Gotze’s shot onto the post after 12 minutes, which set the tone for his evening, and then spread himself at the feet of the playmaker to deny him from point-blank range.
Subsequent stunning saves from Marco Reus and Robert Lewandowski only served to further illustrate his brilliance
Though Mario Balotelli scored a late penalty, it was Hart’s display that single-handedly earned a point in a game City should have lost.
Everton 2-3 Manchester City - May 3, 2014
Manuel Pellegrini’s side took a significant step toward was the Club’s second Premier League title with a tense victory at Goodison Park.
But it needed a stunning late intervention from Hart to ensure that we left Goodison Park with all three precious points.
With the title race coming to the boil, City needed to win their remaining games to stay top and Hart made a crucial fingertip save late in the game as Steven Naismith looked certain to snatch an equaliser.
With Liverpool subsequently slipping up in the run-in, Hart’s save proved to be priceless come the final reckoning.
Barcelona 1-0 City – March 18, 2015
A Champions League clash at the Nou Camp ultimately ended up being a personal duel between Hart and Lionel Messi…. and the goalkeeper ultimately emerged the victor in their individual battle.
Barcelona may have won the game 1-0 thanks to Ivan Rakitic’s goal – but Hart dominated the headlines thanks to what was a breath-taking performance.
The home side dominated, raining in 23 shots on goal and it could have been a heavy painful defeat for the Blues but for Hart’s individual brilliance.
He broke the record of the number of saves made by an English ‘keeper in the Champions League and his display was heralded as one of the finest in the competition’s history, not least by Messi himself afterwards.
