David Silva is back in training after two weeks out with a hamstring problem.

The midfielder hasn’t played since the defeat at Chelsea on 8 December but returned to first-team training at the CFA this week and could be in contention to play in City’s Boxing Day trip to Leicester.

Silva, 32, has played 20 games this season, scoring eight goals.

“He’s one of the best players I’ve trained,” Pep Guardiola said of Silva recently.

“I’ve had a lot at Barca and Bayern but he’s on that list.

“I love players who make a step forward in the bad moments and say: ‘OK I’m here guys’.”

City head to the King Power Stadium second in the Premier League table, four points adrift of leaders Liverpool.
