Fernandinho admits he is thrilled to have secured his third League Cup triumph in five years, even though the day was slightly tempered by a muscle strain early in the second half.

The Brazilian midfielder, who Pep Guardiola has said will “miss the next games”, was joined by team-mates Bernardo Silva and Ederson as he celebrated his fourth trophy as a City player.

“I’m extremely happy,” said Ferna. “It’s a great feeling to be here and to be able to win this trophy with these players. It is amazing, in fact!”

Bernardo Silva added: “I had played here before, but this is my first title with City and I am super happy - now I hope will are able to go on and win even more trophies.”

Ederson, an unused sub against Arsenal said: “Obviously I didn’t play, but it’s very important to win our first trophy...

“It was an incredible day, our fans’ support was amazing. They gave us strength and motivation. Our fans were our twelftth player on the pitch today.

“I’d like to send a big hug to our fans, and especially in Brazil and Portugal.”
