An emphatic midweek victory means the quintet of Manchester City players at NAC Breda are the pick of the bunch in this week's loanee round up.

Breda halted a three match losing streak with a convincing 6-1 win over Heracles on Wednesday.

And the City boys were central to the victory, with Angelino delivering a teasing cross for Rai Vloet’s opener, before Thierry Ambrose reacted quickest to a ball pinballing around the penalty area to crash home.

The Frenchman was also on hand to set up Breda’s sixth goal, but it was Manu Garcia who stole the show to net the game’s fourth goal.

Picking the ball up inside his own half, he surged into the Heracles area and left a trail of defenders in his wake before poking the ball home.

The Dutch outfit followed this up with a 0-0 draw against Excelsior at the weekend, with Angelino, Garcia and Pablo Mari playing the full 90 minutes.

Ambrose played the first 72 minutes, while Paolo Fernandes was an unused substitute.

Aaron Nemane will be hoping to follow suit when his Go Ahead Eagles play Emmem on Monday evening.

In Spain, Girona dropped to ninth in La Liga after a 1-0 defeat to Sevilla.

With Pablo Maffeo suspended after picking up five yellow cards, no City loanees started the game, though Aleix Garcia came on for the start of the second-half.

Yaw Yeboah was an unused sub as Segunda Division side Real Oviedo lost 2-1 to Cadiz.

Jason Denayer didn’t feature in Galatasaray’s 4-1 cup victory over Konyaspor to complete a 6-3 aggregate victory that saw Samuel Eto’o play for the visitors.

The same can be said for Marlos Moreno at Flamengo, but he can look forward to the final of the Campeonato Carioca after his team-mates beat Botafogo 3-1 in the last four.

In England, two Blues went head to head as Jacob Davenport’s Burton Albion faced Bersant Celina’s Ipswich Town.

The two sides couldn’t be separated in a 0-0 draw, which produced few chances, but Davenport again impressed in a deep-lying midfield role for the struggling Brewers.

Elsewhere in the Championship, Angus Gunn played the full 90 minutes as Norwich drew 1-1 at Derby County and may be left ruing missed opportunities from a game the Canaries dominated.

Jack Harrison was included in the Middlesbrough matchday squad for the first time as they beat Reading 2-1, but remained on the bench and will have to wait to make his debut for the Teeside club.

Meanwhile, Isaac Buckley-Ricketts and Ash Smith-Brown both suffered defeat with Oxford United, though the former impressed again as a constant threat down the right wing and set up the U’s goal in the 2-1 loss.

Kean Bryan’s struggling Oldham Athletic picked up a good point in a 2-2 draw at promotion chasing Blackburn Rovers and did it the hard way after being reduced to 10 men with ten minutes remaining.

Charlie Oliver missed out on making his full debut as Fleetwood Town’s game at Rochdale was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Joe Hart was also an unused substitute as West Ham beat Watford in the Premier League.
