It’s a day to celebrate the one you love and for us that’s Manchester City, so in a Valentine’s Day edition of Things We Love, we’re taking a blue tinted look at the last seven days.

From mesmerising passages of play, to unsuspected football hoaxes on your other half, here’s what’s caught our eye this week…

Silky Silva

You couldn’t not love Bernardo Silva’s performance against Basel.

It was an excellent all-round display from the midfielder, with a few moments that will no doubt have won the hearts and minds of fans on the eve of the most romantic day of the year.

He was ice cool to bring the ball down before finishing City’s second with aplomb.

Then there was THAT touch to take the ball out of the sky.

And this weaving run wasn’t bad either…

Kyle made me do it

The significance of Valentine’s Day was certainly not lost on Kyle Walker, who shared the love for his other half on Instagram.

Neither, however, was this evening’s blockbuster Champions League tie between Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.

A Valentine’s Day dilemma for any football fan, Walker was keen to make some mischief…

Prolific Parris

It’s every player’s dream to represent their country at a World Cup and as fans it’s fantastic to see them play with as much pride in the shirt as we would.

Nikita Parris has been discussing just that in an interview with FIFA ahead of next year’s Women’s World Cup.

Here’s a snippet of what the forward had to say: “Ever since I was kid, I dreamed of playing for England.

“Even in the youth set-up I was determined to get into the seniors, so now that I’m here, I don’t want to get complacent.

“Every time I step onto the pitch for England, I feel great pride. I want to keep working hard to stay in the starting XI and push on to win trophies. Playing at the Women’s World Cup is my long-term goal and, hopefully, I can contribute to winning a medal.”
