Pep Guardiola will give his players a rare chance to rest after the game against Burnley.

City have progressed will in every competition this season, meaning opportunities to recharge batteries are few and far between.

But with no midweek game to come, the Blues will have a full seven days before resuming Premier League action against Leicester City.

“After the game against Burnley until next Wednesday afternoon the players will be resting,” said Pep.

“We will close the doors at the CFA and it’s very important we have that time when we won’t see each other.

“The players can do whatever they want, they can travel or whatever.

“If they want to go and find some sunshine or stay here in Manchester, they can do what they like – they are free.

“They have to forget football for a little bit, see family, friends and relax.

“Then, from Wednesday afternoon onwards, we will begin to prepare for our game against Leicester and FC Basel but before then we need a break – not just the players, but the staff as well – everybody.

“We have the chance to do that now and that’s what we will do.”
