The forward, who sustained medial collateral ligament damage in the goalless draw at Crystal Palace on New Year’s Eve, will resume part of training this afternoon.
Monday night’s FA Cup clash at Wigan may arrive too soon for the Brazilian but the Blues will be buoyed by the fact he is closing in on a return.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Guardiola told journalists: “Gabriel Jesus will be in training today. It’s good news.
“I don’t know when he’ll be ready to play – the first step was to make one or two weeks of training alone – but today will be his first training for the team.”
Asked whether he will rotate the squad for the trip to the DW Stadium ahead of next weekend’s Carabao Cup final at Wembley, Guardiola added: “It depends between the games.
“Between the games in Basel and Wigan, you have six days and the next time, five or six days too.
“They can recover. When it’s three days, you have to take a look.
“The players feel well so we’ll see. We are going to have three training sessions before we play Wigan but we will decide on the team on the day.”
