Loan watch: Celina scores winning wonder goal

Firstly we start with Bersant Celina’s fantastic goal during Ipswich’s 1-0 win over Leeds United in the Championship.

Celina curled the ball over Leeds ‘keeper Felix Wiedwald from 30 yards in the 67^th minute to secure Mick McCarthy’s side the three points.

The 21-year-old’s strike marked his eighth goal of the season for the Suffolk club.

Ipswich’s rivals, Norwich City, were also in action this weekend and City goalkeeper Angus Gunn started his 27^th Championship match of the season for the Canaries.

Gunn helped his loan side to keep a clean sheet against Bristol City at Ashton Gate, as team mate James Maddison took the Norfolk side 1-0 up to secure the club’s second win of 2018.

Elsewhere in England, Rodney Kongolo extended his loan spell with League One side Doncaster Rovers, and will remain with the club until the end of the season.

Kongolo featured in Doncaster’s recent 1-1 draw against Plymouth Argyle, as the midfielder started his 12^th League One match of the season for the Yorkshire side.

The 20-year-old was replaced by Benjamin Whiteman in the 65^th minute of the game at the Keepmoat Stadium.

In the Premier League, Joe Hart remained on the bench for West Ham’s emphatic 4-1 win over Huddersfield as fellow ‘keeper Adrian took his place in goal.

Goals from Marko Arnautovic, Mark Noble and two from Manuel Lanzini sealed the win away at the John Smith’s stadium.

Over to Spain now, where two of our loanees were in action for La Liga side Girona.

Both Aleix Garcia and Douglas Luiz came off the bench to replace Pere Pons and Portu during Girona’s impressive 6-0 victory over UD Las Palmas.

Goals from Portu, Borjia Garcia, a hat-trick from Michael Olunga and a penalty strike by Cristhian Stuani sealed the club’s 7th win in the competition.

Fellow Manchester City loanee, Pablo Maffeo, was also on the bench for the match.

Our loan stars at NAC Breda, including Thierry Ambrose and Pablo Mari, haven’t played since before Christmas but will be back in action this weekend against Zwolle – which will be the Netherland side’s first game of 2018.

The Scottish Premiership clubs will also return for their first games of the year next week, with the first clash between Partick Thistle and Celtic – but Patrick Roberts may remain on the sidelines due to an ongoing hamstring problem.

Jason Denayer’s loan side, Galatasary, are also yet to play in 2018 but will be taking part in the second leg of the Turkish Cup round of 16 on Thursday 18 January against Bucaspor - Denayer’s side go into the second leg with a 3-0 advantage.

Finally, three of our players on loan have moved during the January transfer window.

Kean Bryan, who made a total of 25 appearances throughout the season for League One side Oldham Athletic, has returned to Manchester City following the end of his loan spell.

Meanwhile, Aaron Nemane has made the move to Eredivisie side Go Ahead Eagles from Glaswegian club Rangers and Isaac Buckley-Ricketts has transferred to Oxford United from FC Twente until the end of the season.
