City have been drawn away to either Cardiff City or Mansfield in the FA Cup 4th round.

The ties are to be played over the weekend of 26/27/28 and 29 January and that will be just a couple of days after the Blues’ Carabao Cup second leg against Bristol City.

Neil Warnock’s Cardiff City and Mansfield Town drew 0-0 at the Cardiff City Stadium on Saturday and will replay at Field Mill on 16 January.

Should Championship promotion-chasing Cardiff win, the Blues will be taking on the Bluebirds for the eighth time in the FA Cup – though four of those games have been replays.

In 1924, City were held 0-0 by Cardiff at Hyde Road, but the Blues won the return 1-0 in South Wales.

The teams would have to wait 36 years to meet in the competition again, and replays were once more needed.

In 1960, the teams drew 1-1 at Ninian Park, before again drawing 0-0 at Maine Road. City won the toss to host the second replay and finally beat the Bluebirds 2-0.

In 1967, a familiar pattern continued with a 1-1 draw in Cardiff before Joe Mercer’s City finished the job at Maine Road, winning 3-1.

The teams met again in 1994 and City were dumped out of the competition by Cardiff, then a division lower, by a score of 1-0.

City and Mansfield have never met in the FA Cup, but have in two other competitions.

In 1964, The Stags beat City 5-3 at Maine Road in the League Cup and in 1975, the Blues triumphed 4-2 – again at Maine Road.

The teams met once more in 1998, with The Stags again winning 2-1 in the Auto Windscreens Trophy.

City have never competitively played at Field Mill, which has a capacity of 9,186.

Steve Evans’ side currently sit in seventh in League Two, equal on points with fourth-place Accrington Stanley.
