23 De Bruyne’s goal at Chelsea
City’s stars were really hitting their stride by this late September fixture, none more so than Kevin De Bruyne. A dominant display at the home of the 16/17 champions was capped by a left-footed thunderbolt by our brilliant Belgian. Nicolas Otamendi fired the ball through the lines to De Bruyne, who exchanged passes with Gabriel Jesus before pinging an unstoppable shot past one of the world’s best keepers, Thibaut Courtois. This was City making a major title statement. We looked the real deal and so it proved.
24 Derby delight
City took a firm grip on the Premier League title race with this victory at the home of our derby rivals. Goals from David Silva and Nicolas Otamendi, either side of Marcus Rashford’s effort, secured the points in a full-blooded game. The match was also the scene of Ederson’s incredible save from Romelu Lukaku.
Arguably the most memorable part of the match for many City fans was the control with which we saw the game out. Bernardo Silva and De Bruyne ate up the added time deep in United territory with a supreme show of composure and technique, much to the delight of the travelling fans.
