31Premier League perfection

With each passing week, the records continued to tumble.

City’s penultimate game of a sensational campaign saw the Blues re-write the Premier League history books once again, as Pep Guardiola’s men claimed an unprecedented 31st win of the season.

The triumph broke the previous record held by Chelsea the season before of 30 wins in a 38-game season.

Our 3-1 victory over Brighton clinched the feat for Pep Guardiola’s men, as goals from Danilo, Bernardo Silva and Fernandinho secured a 3-1 win over Brighton and Hove Albion, which also served to create a new all-time high points total in English top-flight history (97).

The achievement of 31 wins also equalled City’s Club record for victories in a single season – managed under Kevin Keegan in the promotion-gaining 2001/02 Division One campaign, which amassed 46 games.

City of course went on to better the feat four days after the Brighton game with the dramatic triumph at Southampton; therefore, completing the season with an astonishing 32 Premier League successes.

32Marvellous El Mago

The phenomenon that is David Silva is no secret to us… and his wonderful wizardry was visible for all to see when City locked horns with Arsenal for the second time in a week in March.

They don’t call him ‘El Mago’ for nothing and the mercurial maestro was at his creative best with a scintillating display in north London, as the Blues triumphed 3-0 against the Gunners – just as we had in the Carabao Cup Final at Wembley just days before.

Even without his goal – a brilliantly-taken near post effort, crafted with his sublime first touch – the Spaniard was influential, pulling the strings in the heart of midfield as City ran riot to claim just our second league victory away to Arsenal since 1975.

It was also our biggest winning margin in the away fixture since 1912 and moved Guardiola’s men 16 points clear atop the Premier League table.

Absolutely magic!
