Two City players were in action on day seven of the 2018 World Cup.

David Silva played the full 90 minutes as Spain defeated Iran in Kazan, a result that puts Fernando Hierro’s side on the brink of the last-16.

Diego Costa grabbed the winner in a game that Spain completely dominated.

And Bernardo played an hour of Portugal’s 1-0 win over Morocco. Cristiano Ronaldo’s fourth of the tournament the difference between the two sides.

Portugal’s four points from their first two games mean they, too, are tantalisingly close to a place in the next round.

And Uruguay booked their place in the knock-out phase with a 1-0 win over Saudi Arabia in Rostov.

Sergio Aguero is likely to start for Argentina in their game against Croatia this evening.

That game kicks off at 7pm with live coverage on the BBC.

And Benjamin Mendy will be hoping to play a part in France’s game against Peru at 4pm. You can see all the action on ITV.
