Fernandinho's superb strike against Stoke City has been named Nissan Goal of the Season.

Fans were spoiled for choice with this year’s Goal of the Season as the Blues netted 106 in the Premier League alone, but Fernandinho beat off stiff competition from fellow team mates Kevin De Bruyne, Raheem Sterling and Sergio Aguero for the prize.

The winning goal was City’s fifth in our stunning 7-2 victory back in October last year, when the Brazilian picked up the ball 25 yards from goal before unleashing a stunning shot that thundered the underside of the crossbar on its way into the net to send the Etihad wild.

Fernandinho made 48 appearances throughout the season across all competitions, scoring five goals with as many assists.

Reflecting on City’s stunning season, the midfielder believes this has been his best campaign yet: “Definitely, yes (this has been my best season). The way we played for the whole season, how many goals we scored.

“For me, it’s been an amazing year. I’m so proud of these guys - my teammates. They helped me a lot, scoring goals. I had an easy job!”
