Vincent Kompany and John Stones are both fit and ready to face Huddersfield on Sunday.

Kompany missed the win over West Ham with a muscle problem but returned to full training this week and is in line for a return to Pep Guardiola’s starting XI.

And John Stones, whose last game for City came in early March, is back from an adductor muscle.

He had a little problem but he made a perfect training session and is ready for the day after tomorrow,” Guardiola confirmed in Friday’s press conference.

“The main target for the players is the World Cup because the Premier League is done. But the best way to arrive at World Cup is to play good in these three games.

“We want to finish high.

“[John] is progressing good. He’s training good and is ready.

Meanwhile, Guardiola says Sergio Aguero’s recovery from knee surgery is going well.

The Argentine striker hasn’t played since the defeat to Liverpool in the Champions League quarter-final second leg a month ago.

But Guardiola says he is making good progress and expects the striker to be fit in time for this summer’s World Cup in Russia.

“I have had information from [Dr Ramon] Cugat that he will arrive okay [at the World Cup],” Guardiola said.

City go into Sunday’s game knowing a win would see us set Premier League records for the most points and wins amassed in a single season.

And we also need just two more goals to break Chelsea’s all-time record of 103.

Guardiola says it would be hugely significant if City were to achieve those milestones.

“What we have to think about is winning another game when that happens we will break huge records,” he said.

“But the target is to play good. We are here 10 months fighting every week to do this.

“We ask our fans to come, enjoy the 90 minutes and for a lot of us it will be the first time we have done this.

“There are 20 players and a lot of staff who have never won the Premier League - so we are going to enjoy it.
