We select four of the stand-out goals that helped illuminate City's record-breaking campaign...

Rob Pollard: Bernardo Silva v Arsenal (March 2018)

This was a brilliant goal that came in one of our finest performances of the season - our second 3-0 win over Arsenal in the space of five days.

Leroy Sane had destroyed Arsenal from the off and after 15 minutes he went on another of his mazy runs.

At his best, there are very few defenders who can live with his pace and direct style, and after a sustained period of passing, the ball came to him on the left and there was a sudden change of pace.

He went past four bamboozled Arsenal players and slipped in Bernardo Silva, who went past Sead Kolasinic before curling a quite brilliant effort into the far top corner past Petr Cech.

Exhilarating from start to finish.

David Clayton: Fabian Delph v Crystal Palace (September 2017)

There’s nothing like a long-range effort to get everyone out of their seat and this goal definitely comes into that category.

With so many to choose from, it’s almost an exercise in futility to choose just one and while Fernandinho’s goal against Stoke, KDB’s versus Chelsea and Sergio’s underside of the bar effort v Leicester are all worthy winners, I’m going for one of our unsung heroes.

Fabian Delph was outstanding for the Blues throughout the campaign and though he only scored one goal, it was a cracker.

With time nearly up and City leading 4-0 against Palace, Delph received the ball on the edge of the box and – in one of those ‘why not? moments – he looked up and curled a right-foot shot into the top right corner, giving Wayne Hennessey no chance.

If he scores just one goal like that every season, I don’t think anyone will be complaining!

Caroline Oatway: Sergio Aguero (his fourth!) v Leicester (February 2018)

Sergio Aguero never ceases to amaze, continuously achieving the seemingly impossible.

Capable of scoring any type of goal – apparently from any angle – with unerring precision and remarkable regularity and under the most high-pressure situations, it could not be more fitting that the Argentine sits proudly as the Club’s all-time record goalscorer.

Braces and hat-tricks are commonplace and, in fact, those accomplishments have been bettered on several occasions.

For the third time in his City career, he bagged four in one game (he actually went on to score five in one of those!), when Leicester visited the Etihad Stadium this season, in a simply sensational individual display.

Expert movement, finishing and a predatory instinct had earned the striker a second-half treble but Kun saved his best for last, capping a wonderful performance with the pick of the bunch – a beautifully-executed, swerving piledriver from outside the area, which crashed in off the crossbar in injury time to seal a fantastic win.

A superb goal from a truly special player.

Neil Leigh: Kevin De Bruyne v Chelsea (September 2017)

City’s Belgian play-maker cemented his reputation as a world-class talent with a succession of stunning performances over the course of our record-breaking season, providing 16 assists – to top the Premier League assist charts - and no shortage of crucial strikes.

But of the eight league goals registered by KDB during the season, none was more pivotal or spectacular than the effort which saw City stun the reigning champions at their Stamford Bridge stamping ground.

City had dominated the heavyweight clash without converting their superiority into any tangible reward when De Bruyne spectacularly took matters into his own hands against his former side on 67 minutes.

The match-winning move was initiated by Blues’ central defender Nicolas Otamendi with the ball then smartly moving from De Bruyne to Gabriel Jesus before KDB collected a return pass from the Brazilian and advanced into an area of space just outside the Chelsea area.

That was the signal for the 26-year to unleash a ferocious left foot shot which thundered past a helpless Thibaut Courtois and secure a victory that signalled Pep Guardiola’s side truly meant business in their pursuit of the Premier League crown.

Caroline Oatway: Georgia Stanway v Chelsea

Despite her youth, Georgia Stanway is becoming established as a scorer of stunning goals.

Aged just 19, she has already gained collective and individual acclaim, including a Nissan Goal of the Season effort on the opening day of the 2016 campaign.

With the ability to score from range, the youngster is often introduced to produce such moments of magic and she struck a pivotal piledriver, as City came from 2-0 down to rescue a vital point at home against Chelsea.

With just four minutes of normal time remaining,  the youngster rifled home a sensational leveller into the top corner from Jill Scott’s cut-back to salvage a precious point in the title race.
