The Spaniard, widely seen as the Club’s greatest-ever player, signed a new one-year contract extension last November, tying him to the Club until the summer of 2020 and has been in wonderful form so far this season.
Replacing him looks like being a near-impossible task but he believes Bernardo, who has impressed in a central role this term, has the capability to fulfil his role in the side when the time comes for him to hang up his boots.
“Bernardo is a brilliant player with lots of quality and works very hard,” Silva said.

“He’s got a huge amount of quality. Football moves on, players come, and players go.
“But there’s always someone to come in and fill your shoes and we’re lucky that we’ve got lots of players to do that.”
City are two points clear at the top of the Premier League after 12 games in what looks likely to be one of the tightest title races in years.
Silva, as ever, has been our creative hub, scoring seven goals in 15 matches and producing a string of influential performances.
Remarkably, he’s never been named Player of the Year, either by the football writers or his fellow professionals, a fact that confuses City fans who watch him closely.
But he says individual awards don’t bother him, it’s team success he craves.
“It’s not something that I’ve ever worried about and I’m certainly not worried now,” he said.
“What interests me is winning titles with the group. We’ve done that, and I hope to keep winning.”
