Pep Guardiola‘s side have made a fine opening to our defence of the Premier League title, winning 11 and drawing two of the first 13 games.
Following Saturday’s superb triumph over West Ham, City are top of the table with a two-point advantage over second-placed Liverpool, having accrued 35 points so far.
As with our record-breaking 2017/18 campaign, the manner of City’s commitment to attractive, attacking football has repeatedly caught the eye.

Guardiola had already spoken of his belief that his players are already improving on the form that made Premier League history last season.
And the numbers behind the Blues’ superb opening three months of action also make for impressive reading.
To date on league duty, the Blues have chalked up an astonishing 40 goals – more than any other side in the top flight – and conceded just five. Again, the most impressive tally, along with Liverpool.
Furthermore, goalkeeper Ederson‘s eight clean sheets is also the best return recorded by a Premier League goalkeeper along with Liverpool’s Allison.
But it’s in going forward where City’s statistics really stand out.
The Blues have registered a Premier League best total of 255 shots from the first 13 matches – including 100 which have been on target – and City currently boast an average of 3.08 goals per game.
Of our 40 goals, 33 have come inside the box and seven outside and that figure could have been even higher given that the Blues have already hit the woodwork a staggering nine times this season - the highest tally with Huddersfield.
It also comes as no surprise that City dominate the passing data too.

The Blues has so far chalked up a pass accuracy success rate of 89 percent – once again a Premier League best alongside Chelsea – with a total of 9,100 passes completed so far.
Individually too, several City players are leading the way in terms of their own impact on the Premier League.
Central defender Aymeric Laporte has been in imperious form for the Club all season, with his tactical awareness, passing acumen and all-round power constantly catching the eye.
And the French star’s comfort on the ball is amply illustrated by the fact he is currently second in the Premier League passing charts with 1,151 completed to date.
City’s dominance in that department is also recognised by the fact that midfielder Fernandinho (940) and right-back Kyle Walker (829) also both figure in the top ten for passing.
Assist wise, the Blues make up three of the top four providers with Raheem Sterling joint-top alongside Bournemouth’s Ryan Fraser with six. Benjamin Mendy boasts five, while Sergio Aguero has recorded four.
It also comes as no surprise to learn that all-time club record goalscorer Aguero tops the league’s scoring charts, hitting the target eight times in the league.
Having already amassed the 200 career goals tally for the club this season, the Argentine looks in prime position to carve out yet more history going forward.
