The 20-year-old Academy graduate penned a new three-year deal in the summer and has relished having the opportunity to learn from Ederson and Claudio Bravo.
Now, with Bravo ruled out for several months with injury, the Stockport-born youngster will compete with Aro Muric as back-up to Ederson.
“Training with Eddy every day, you get to learn a lot,” said Grimshaw.

“He arrived last season and did really well. He’s just gone from strength to strength and is one of the best goalkeepers in the world.
“For me, to be close and able to watch, learn and talk with him about different aspects of his game and take advice, is an education.
“Luckily for me, playing with the ball at my feet has always been one of my strengths. I have often been asked if I’ve ever played outfield, but I never have – just a goalkeeper!
“Playing that way has always been something I enjoy – some people see it as a bit risky, but I’m really comfortable.”
Like team-mate Phil Foden, Grimshaw has been at City on one level or another for most of his life, and it is even better when you are also – like Foden – a lifelong Blue.
“I’ve been here since I was five years old – 15 years in total – so obviously I’ve seen a lot of changes at the Club,” said Grimshaw.
“I was really happy to extend my contract during the summer and moving up to the first team has been fantastic.
“I was told the Club had trust in my ability and potential and that’s why they decided to offer me another three years here – now I just need to repay that faith.
“Claudio’s injury means there may be opportunities to play, but we’ll just have to wait and see what happens and I just wish him a speedy recovery.
“All the keepers stick together, everyone knows that. I’ve known Aro a few years from the Academy and the EDS and we get along well and have trained together a lot over the past few years.
“Even at the start of the season I felt ready in case anything happened – you have to have that mindset.
“I’ve been a City fan all my life, so to get to this point is amazing and if chances come up, fantastic – but now I want to push on again.
“If I sat down and really thought about playing for City, I would have to pinch myself, but when it’s been your every day life for so many years, you just get used to it – that way, nothing is a surprise and you are able to keep calm and be ready.
“I started out with Deans where my dad coached, and a lady called Jill was my first goalkeeper coach.
“Then, when I came to City, Alex Williams helped me a lot, then Dave Felgate, Tim Dittmer and several others – obviously I’m grateful to them all.”
