Fabian Delph has praised Manchester City’s squad depth and says it’s a “privilege” to be a part of the Club.

Delph played 13 games for City last season as we won the Premier League and Carabao Cup.

Operating primarily as a left-back, he emerged as one of the stars of the season with a series of excellent displays, including a brilliant performance away at Chelsea in a victory Pep Guardiola later described as the day his players believed they could be title winners.

The 28-year-old is yet to feature for Guardiola’s side this term, but he says he’s relaxed about the situation and is determined to seize his opportunity when it arrives.

“I’m not concerned about it, it’s a very long season,” Delph said.

“At a club like Manchester City we’re soon going to be playing three games a week and not everyone can play three games a week.

“There will be rotation, there will be times I’m needed to play and times I’m needed to come off the bench.

“I definitely will play games, I’m 100 per cent certain I’ll get minutes on the pitch. It’s up to you once you get the opportunity.

“When I do it’s my time to shine and give what I can to the team. It’s a fantastic squad and I’m very privileged to be part of it.”

Delph is currently on England duty after being named in Gareth Southgate’s squad for the games against Spain and Switzerland this week.

Saturday’s game against Spain is England’s inaugural UEFA Nations League fixture, followed by a friendly against the Swiss at the King Power Stadium three days later as Southgate begins preparations for Euro 2020 qualifying.

And after their run to the semi-finals of this summer’s World Cup, Delph says there’s still a feel-good factor around the squad.

“We spent so much time together in Russia it felt strange the first week being back home.

“We pretty much nailed everything from the start of the camp, the togetherness. It was a really relaxed, chilled out camp. When we weren’t on the pitch it was everyone laughing and joking, watching movies, just getting on. It felt almost like a lads’ holiday.

“But on the pitch we mixed it up, were very serious and had our game plans and we nailed that as well.

“I spoke a lot out there about the chemistry and energy we have at City and the energy here is the same if not better.”
