After our incredible Fourmidables campaign, which saw us score a record 168 goals across all competitions, De Bruyne predicts teams will adopt an even more conservative approach when they face the Champions.
But the Belgian believes the Blues can still do the business against super-defensive playing styles.
“Obviously teams are going to play differently, maybe even more defensively than they did, so we may have to learn how to break things down in a different way,” he said.
“That’s what we did last year differently to the previous season.
“That’s something that will come along the way, it’s not something that you can really prepare for now,” the midfielder revealed.
City are attempting to win three Premier League titles in succession, and our quest got under way superbly on Saturday with a 5-0 win away at West Ham.
After amassing 198 points over the previous two campaigns, questions have been asked about how City improve this time around.
But De Bruyne says raising our impeccable performance level over the past two seasons is difficult, and instead he is focusing on maintaining the high standards we have set.
“You can always improve but the main thing you must do as a team is stay constant,” he said.
“To improve is more individual, but as a team to do much, much better than we did in the last two years is nearly impossible.”

For KDB’s teammate, Bernardo Silva, the Champions’ achievements are a collective effort, but the Portuguese midfielder also singled out the boss for praise.
He says Guardiola’s attention to detail is often the key to our success.
“It’s all in the details. Not only for me but for all the players it’s a pleasure to be managed by him and the results show that,” he said.
“Over the last two seasons the way the team has played and the amount of trophies we have won shows that the players are good, the manager is good and it’s the perfect combination.”
