John Stones will miss the trip to Bournemouth through injury, but there was better news regarding Oleksandr Zinchenko.

The England defender missed the game with Spurs last week and Pep Guardiola confirmed he is still unfit.

“He is not fit for this weekend,” said Pep. “We will see when he will be fit to return.”

Zinchenko could feature this weekend after fears he had picked up an injury last weekend proved unfounded.

The Ukraine international looked to be struggling towards the end of the game with Spurs but has recovered well this week and has trained as normal.

“I think he is fit,” said Pep. “He has been training good – perfectly, in fact. He had cramp.

“It was a demanding game against Tottenham and a difficult game against Liverpool, so he was tired.

“Going 2-2 is always so demanding. Games against top teams, physicality is tough.

“We are not yet in the normal process of games every three days.

The City boss also revealed Joao Cancelo could feature against the Cherries on Sunday.

“He can play,” he said. “He’s ready. I think he’s understanding training. We talk with him. He sees what we want in training and video analysis.

“After one week, people have had time to recover. Everybody will be involved, but my first feeling on Cancelo is really good.”

Asked if the former Juventus star is comfortable on either flank, he said: “Yeah, but we have others - Angelino, Mendy… he is normally a right-back but. he can play left and has played left-back many times.

“He can play as a winger too. I can play him in several positions, but mostly it will be full-back because Kyle cannot play every game.
