The Champions had 30 efforts on goal to Tottenham’s two, playing with intensity and creativity throughout.
There was disappointment at the end with the loss of two points, but Guardiola saw huge positives in the way City played against last season’s Champions League finalists.
“We played incredible,” Guardiola said. “One of the best games we’ve played in our time together.
“We played good, but unfortunately we could not win.
“We’ll recover, train and prepare for the next game. We don’t have regrets, that’s the most important thing.
“The way we arrive, create chances and put Tottenham deeper when they wanted to press.
“Unfortunately, when they cross the line they score and then a set piece. Nothing else.
“We play Tottenham, one of the best teams in Europe.”

City looked to have won what was a thrilling game when substitute Gabriel Jesus scored with seconds remaining.
But VAR ruled the goal out; Aymeric Laporte adjudged to have handled the ball in the build up.
It was eerily similar to the end of last season’s Champions League quarter-final tie between the two sides, when Raheem Sterling’s goal was scrubbed off in dramatic circumstances.
Guardiola admits it was another cruel blow, but says City’s performance left him “fascinated”.
“It’s a pity because it’s the last minutes,” Guardiola said. “When that happens, it’s tough. We play good and in the last moments we score a goal.
“All we can do is try to play like today as much as possible, be clinical. They are one of the best teams and what we have done against them was fascinating. That’s my feeling.
“Today was fantastic in everything we have done, our pressing, closing spaces, controlling counter attacks and creating chances.”
