A win against Sheffield United was essential for Manchester City’s season according to forward Sergio Aguero.

The Argentine opened the scoring early in the second half with a powerful near post effort, before Kevin De Bruyne secured a hard-fought 2-0 victory over the Blades in the 82nd minute following a swift counter.

Aguero believes the three points were vital as City look to close the gap on second-placed Leicester City and cement their place in the Premier League top four.

Aguero’s thunderous strike into the roof of the net was his 10th Premier League goal in just 15 appearances this season.
