Sergio Aguero and John Stones have returned to training to hand Manchester City a timely boost ahead of Saturday’s game against Leicester City.

The Argentine striker has been missing for three weeks due to a muscle injury picked up against Chelsea, whilst Stones has been out since the Manchester derby with a hamstring problem.

The duo have both taken part in the multiple sessions in the build-up to Leicester’s visit to the Etihad Stadium, though David Silva remains unable to train with his team-mates.

Aguero and Stones trained,” said Guardiola.

“They have had two sessions. David Silva, no.

“Yes, [it’s important] to have Aguero and all the other players back.”

Leicester return to the Etihad on Saturday evening for the first time since Vincent Kompany’s last gasp heroics handed City a huge boost in the 2018/19 title run-in.

This time, however, the Foxes are among the Premier League contenders.

Brendan Rodgers’ side are unbeaten in their last 11 games in all competitions and arrive at the Etihad four points ahead of City in the table.

Their fine early season form has provided an additional title race talking point, though it has come as no surprise to Guardiola, who was left feeling the East Midlands outfit would challenge following our dramatic late victory in May.

“They did really well last season when Brendan Rodgers took over the team,” added the boss. “And this season as well.

“They have been so consistent in this part of the season.

“They play the same. Except Maguire, the team is the same. There is a lot of quality up front and in the middle. At the back they are solid.

“It is a fantastic team, it was last season. After that game it was my feeling they would be fighting for the top four and it’s happened.”
