Ederson’s early sending off saw City down to ten men for over 80 minutes, and a late fightback from the hosts saw them cancel out Raheem Sterling’s brace and take maximum points.
But Bernardo insists the defeat was not for a want of trying from him and his teammates: “I think the effort from the team was really good.
“It was frustrating… the way we played with ten men and to lose the three points.”

A long-range effort from Adama Traore gave Wolves hope with 35 minutes left to play, before a tap in from Raul Jimenez and Matt Doherty’s angled finish saw Nuno Espirito Santo’s men nick the win in the final ten minutes.
And while Bernardo did admit the goals were preventable, he also acknowledged the odds were stacked against Pep Guardiola‘s men holding on.
The Portuguese midfielder said: “We did really well until a point where little mistakes cost us two goals, and then it’s a point where we were really tired.

“It’s difficult to last 80 minutes with ten men here against Wolves, one of the most difficult sides in the Premier League.”
The defeat sees City miss out on leapfrogging second-placed Leicester City, and also means we stay 14 points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool.

And Bernardo is under no illusions about how difficult the task will be if Pep Guardiola’s men are to retain the title for a third consecutive season.
“It is a really bad situation for us. A frustrating first half of the season,” he admitted when speaking to Amazon Prime following the loss to Wolves.
“Nobody expected us to be this far away from Liverpool at this halfway point. (But) we have to continue now.
“We know that winning the title is very complicated. I wouldn’t say impossible but very difficult.”
