Nothing evokes memories of the football of yesteryear like rosettes and pennants.

There as a time when a rosette was de rigueur on match days, but none more so than a cup tie.

A Wembley final in particular would see a plethora of rosettes appear, many (or most) homemade and therefore original, colourful and lovingly made.

With City’s FA Cup fifth round tie with Newport County conjuring up the romance of the competition, this week’s archive trawl seemed has unearthed more fan treasures.

The examples in the picture above were donated to us by City fan Stan Deakin.

They belonged to his friend, Stan Turner who has sadly since passed away.

The archives team will always welcome more!
